Gilles de Rais

Gilles de Rais (c. 1400 — 40) was an outstanding French soldier participated in the Hundred Year's War and was also a comrade in arms of Joan of Arc. However, his prestige was shadowed today on account of leading a life as perpetrator of more than a hundred gruesome child murders. He is said to be the first serial killer in history.
