Giovanni Battista Cavalcaselle

Giovanni Battista Cavalcaselle (1820-1897) was an Italian writer on art. He was joint-author with J. A. Crowe of works on the "Early Flemish Painters" and the "History of Painting in Italy". He was chief of the art department under the Minister of Public Instruction in Rome.
