Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina
Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1524-1594) was a celebrated Italian composer of sacred music, surnamed the Prince of Music, born at Palestrina. He resided chiefly at Rome, where he wrought a revolution in church music, produced a number of masses which at once raised him to the foremost rank among composers.
