Glacial period

A glacial period is a period in the history of the earth that is marked by colder temperatures and glacier advances. During the glacial period the surface of the earth is extensively covered by polar and mountain ice sheets.

The last glacial period on the earth began about 110,000 years ago and ended about 15,000 years ago.
