Graft

Graft is a term in horticulture for applying a portion – the scion – of one plant to a stock, usually rooted, which is another plant or another portion of the same plant, with the object of securing vegetative union between the two the scion being detached from its parent plant either before or after the operation. Also applied to the composite individual so obtained.
