Guillaume Apollinaire

Guillaume Apollinaire (1880-1918) was a French poet, known for coining the term surrealist. The surrealist poets acknowledged him as their precursor. The poet had assumed this pseudonym whose real name was Wilhelm Apollinaris de Kostrowitzki. His chief works are Les Alcools (1913) and Calligrammes (1918).
