Guinea

Guinea is a country in the west coast of Africa, or Western Africa region. Conakry is it capital city. It official language is French, however, Fulani, Malinke, and several other languages are also in use in this country.

Population in 2003 was 8,480,000 and population density was 34 per sq km. Largest urban agglomeration population was 1,272. Surface area of the country was 245,857 sq km. The name of its currency is franc.

History

Guinea became an independent republic in 1958.

During 16th century, this country was part of Fulani empire. It was a feudal system of governance.

Later, France colonized this country and became part of French West Africa.
