Hawaii

Hawaii is a state in the United States. It is comprised of a group of islands called Hawaiian Islands situated in the North Pacific Ocean. It is located at about 3,000 miles (4,830 km) west of the mainland US. Honolulu is its capital city situated on Oahu. It became the 50th state of the United States on August 21, 1959.

Hawaiian islands were discovered by Captain James Cook (1728-1779) in 1778. It was first settled by Polynesians, and annexed by the US in 1898.
