Heinrich Himmler

Heinrich Himmler (1900-45), full name Heinrich Luitpold Himmler, was a leader of Germany. He was the man who supervised the systematic genocide of over 6,000,000 Jews and other groups between 1941 and 1945.

He became chief of the Schutzstaffel (SS) (Protection Squadron), the Nazi special police force, in 1929, and of the Gestapo in 1936. He remained as chief of both until 1945, when he was captured by British forces.

He committed suicide in the same year.
