Hercules George Robert Robinson
Hercules George Robert Robinson (1824-1898), also Lord Rosmead, was a British colonial administrator, son of an admiral, born in 1824. He withdrew from the army shortly after his first commission, and gave himself to Government Colonial service. He received a knighthood, and held Governorship of Hong-Kong in 1859. He was successively governor of Ceylon, New South Wales, New Zealand, Cape of Good Hope, &c. He was created Lord Rosmead in 1896.Nearby pages
