!Hindi Hindi is a language. It is written in Devnagri (also spelled Devanagari) script. It is the official language of India. Hindi is the biggest of the ((Indian languages)) in terms of the number of persons use it. Sometimes, it is also known as Hindustani. The constitution of India recognised Hindi in Devnagri script as the official language of the Union. ((Hindi Language)) is in fact a mixture of a number of dialects including ((Khari boli)) ((Rajasthani)) ((Maithili)) ((Brajbhasha)) and ((Awadhi)). Among the various dialects of Hindi, the dialect Khariboli, written in Devnagri was chosen as official Hindi. It was originally spoken in and around Meerut of Uttar Pradesh. Hindi has now become a great literary language of India. The early period of ((Hindi Literature)) beginning from 12 the century up to mid - 14 th century is called Adikal. The next period up to the 17th century was dominated by Bhakti Kavyas which were of two streams - Nirgun and Sagun. The third period up to the mid - 19th century is known as Ritikavya Kal. Then comes the modern period of Hindi literature.
