Hoysalas of Dorasamudra ruled the Mysore area in the beginning of 12th century. The dynasty was, however, under subordination to Chalukyas.

They helped in the revival of Hinduism in general and Vaishnavism in particular.

They built many famous temples.

The dynasty ended when Dorasamudra was sacked by Malik Kafur, the general of Alla-ud-din Khilji.
