Indian National Congress

Indian National Congress is a political organisation in India. It was founded in 1885. Initiative for its formation was taken by Mr A O Hume.
Its first session was held in Bombay and was presided over by Mr W C Bannerjee.

This session expressed the loyalty of the Indians towards the British Government in clear and unequivocal terms. The objective of this organization was to establish close cooperation between the British Administration and the people of India.

It ultimately led the Freedom Movement of India to its independence in 1947. Since, the independence, the very character of this organiztion has changed.

Indian National Congress (INC) is a political party of India. It was founded in 1985 not as a political party, but as a social organization having social concerns. However, in course of time it turned into a political party.

Initially, it demanded equitable government through administrative reforms, and later demanded independence for India from British rule.

Under leadership of the Congress, India got independence in 1947.
