Insulin
Insulin is a term used in biochemistry. It is a hormone produced by the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas.The body produces this hormone to regulate the amount of glucose in the blood.
When this hormone is not produced in sufficient quantity, the amount of glucose in the blood increases, which causes a form of diabetes.
When this hormone is produced in the body in excess, the amount of glucose in the blood decreases, that sometimes become fatal for human beings.
Diabetic patients are treated by this hormone which is produced synthetically or extracted from animals.
