Isaac Butt

Isaac Butt (1813-1879) was an Irish patriot, distinguished for his scholarship at Dublin University. He became editor of the Dublin University Magazine. He entered Parliament, and at length took the lead of the "Home Rule" party, but could not control it, and retired.
