Isabel Allende

Isabel Allende (b. 1942) is a Chilean writer. She won acclaim for her first novel "The House of the Spirits". She was born in Lima, Peru; was goddaughter and niece of former president Salvador Allende. She was forced into exile with her family upon the 1973 overthrow of Chile’s coalition government by a military junta.
