Issac I

Issac I, Comnenus was Byzantine Emperor, ie Emperor of the East from 1057 to 1059. He was raised to the throne by the army. He ruled well, but falling ill and fearing he had not long to live. He retired and spent his two remaining years in a monastery. He was a student and annotator of Homer.
