Jacques François Elias Halévy

Jacques François Elias Halévy (1799-1862), full name Jacques François Fromental Élie Halévy, also Fromental Halévy in short, was a French operatic composer, born at Paris. He became a professor at the Conservatoire. He wrote a large number of operas, of which "La Juive" and "L'Éclair" were the best, and enjoyed a European reputation.
