Jageshwar is in Uttarakhand state of India. The place derives its name from one of the dwadash (12) Jyoutirlingams situated here, which is known as Jageshwar. It lies at a distance of about 100 kms from Nainital in a beautiful narrow valley hedged by monarch-sized, ancient deodar trees. Jageshwar temple complex houses over 100 small and large shrines. Jageshwar, Mrityunjaya and Pushtidevi temples of this complex are famous for their outstanding sculptures. Jageshwar temple has sculpted dwarpals (doorkeepers) standing at its entrance. It is surprising that this hindu temple bears the Buddhist influence it many of its carvings.
