James Whitcomb Riley

James Whitcomb Riley (1849 - 1916) was a US writer and poet. He was one of the best-selling authors, however, he was chiefly known for his nostalgic dialect verse and often called “the poet of the common people.” His poems were sentimental or humourous. He was also known as the "Hoosier Poet" for his dialect works and "Children's Poet" for his children's poetry.
