Jammu and Kashmir Vidhan Sabha Election 2024

Jammu and Kashmir Vidhan Sabha Election 2024 was announced by the Election Commission of India on August 16, 2024. Election will be held in three phases for all 90 Vidhan Sabha constituencies in this UT, out of which 7 are reserved for SCs and 9 are reserved for STs. It is the first election after the state of Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into to UTs - Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Elections is being conducted on the basis of the "Delimitation Commission's Order No 2 vide notification dated May 5, 2022". Total number of electors are 88,66,704 out of which 87,90,870 are general electors and 75,834 are service voters. Number of first time voters who attained the age of 18 between January 1, 2024 and July 1, 2024 are 4,27,813. Total persons with disability (PwD) electors are 83,072, Third Gender 167, and 85+ senior citizens 69,974. Total number of polling stations with maximum 1500 electors in a polling station are 11838 as against 10,757 during Lok Sabha election 2019. Last Vidhan Sabha election was held in Jammu and Kashmir in 2014 when it was a state.
