Jamtara

Jamtara is a district of the State of Jharkhand in India. It came into existence on 26th April 2001. It was created by carving out four blocks from Dumka District. The district is located at a lower altitude of Chhotanagpur plateau and its latitude and longitude vary form 23°10' to 24° 5' North and 86° 30' to 87° 15' East, respectively.

Area of this district is about 177743 Ha. This small district of Jharkhand state is comprised of only 4 blocks. There are 1084 villages out of which 993 are inhabited.
