Jamui
Jamui is a district in the State of Bihar in India. It derives its name from its headquarters town of the same name. It is located at a Longitude of 86º-13'E and the latitude of 24º-55'N. The district is bounded in the north by Munger and Lakhisarai District, in the south by Giridih District of Jharkhand, in the east by Deoghar and Banka District, and in the west by Nawada District.According to 2011 Census, Jamui ranks 28th in terms of population (17,60,405) and 11th in terms of area (3,098 sq.km.) in the state of Bihar. In terms of population per sq.km. Jamui is the 37th densely populated district in the state with 568 persons per sq.km as against the state’s 1,106. Jamui ranks 13th in terms of sex-ratio (922) against the state’s 918. Jamui ranks 5th in terms of child sex-ratio (956) 0 to 6 age group against state’s 935. There are 179 uninhabited villages (out of 1,503 total villages) in the district of Jamui.Sikandra (under Sikandra C.D. Block) is the most populated village (16,805) and Tola Barhidih (under Chakai C.D. Block) is the least populated village (3) in the district. C.D. Block Chakai has the highest number of villages (600) in the district and C.D. Block
Gidhaur has the lowest number of villages (20). Harkhar (under Khaira C.D. Block) has the largest area (8,937 hectare) and Bahera Kita
Alaiya (under Barhat C.D. Block) has the smallest area (1 hectare) among the villages in the district.
