Jean Louis Rololphe Agassiz

Jean Louis Rololphe Agassiz (1807-73) was a famous Swiss born zoologist, geologist, and paleontologist of the United States of America. He was an innovative and prodigious scholar of Earth's natural history.

He had proposed that much of Europe had once been in the grip of an ice age. He was the first person to do so as early as in 1837.
