Jean Staal

Jean Staal (1693-1750) was a French lady of humble circumstances, of metaphysical turn. She was skilled in the philosophies of Descartes and Malebranche. She was in the Bastille for two years for political offences. She was a charming woman, and captivated the Baron de Staal. She left Memoirs and Letters.
