John Andre

John Andre (1750-80) was a British soldier. This brave British officer was tried and hanged as a spy in the American war in 1780. A monument is erected to him in Westminster Abbey.

He is known for successfully negotiating with Benedict Arnold during the American war of 1779-80 for the betrayal of West Point to the British. However, after his success in West Point he was captured while returning from there.
