John Ball

John Ball (d. 1381) was an English rebel, a priest who had been excommunicated for denouncing the abuses of the Church. He preached egalitarianism. He was a ringleader in the Wat Tyler rebellion. Following the Peasants' Revolt, he was captured and hanged. He was executed as a traitor.
