John Bardeen

John Bardeen (1908-91) was a US physicist. He is known for developing a point-contact transistor with William Shockley and Walter Brattain, for which they shared the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1956. He also shared the prize in 1972 with his colleagues Leon N Cooper (1930- ) and John Robert Schrieffer (1931- 2019) for his works on the theory of superconductivity.
