John Baskerville

John Baskerville (1706-1775) was an English printer and typefounder, originally a writing-master in Birmingham; native of Sion Hill, Worcestershire; produced editions of classical works prized for their pre-eminent beauty by connoisseurs in the art of the printer, and all the more for their rarity. He was the designer of the typeface named Baskerville, that was named after him and has been much used in books.
