John Bradshaw
John Bradshaw (1586-1659) was an English jurist, president of the High Court of Justice for trial of Charles I, born at Stockport. He was bred for the bar. He was a friend of Milton. Bradshaw was a thorough republican, and opposed to the Protectorate. He became president of the Council on Cromwell's death. He was buried in Westminster, but his body was exhumed and hung in chains at the Restoration.Nearby pages
