John Philpot Curran

John Philpot Curran (1750-1817) was an Irish orator and wit, born in county Cork. He became member of Parliament in 1784. Though a Protestant, he employed all his eloquence to oppose the policy of the Government towards Ireland, together with the Union. He retired on the death of Pitt. He was Master of the Rolls for a time. Nevertheless he was Irish to the core.
