KANPUR
Kanpur, formerly spelled CAWNPORE, is a city on the right bank of the Ganges, in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is situated at 40 m. SW. of Lucknow, and 628 NW. of Calcutta. This city witnessed the scene of one of the most fearful battle during the Indian Mutiny in 1857, led by Nana Sahib.
