Kausani is in Uttarakhand state of India. It is situated in the midst of dense pine forest atop a narrow ridge of the Himalayas mountain range. Mahatma Gandhi, who spent 12 days in 1929 at Kausani, penned his memorable commentry on the Geeta-Anashakti-Yoga. Thus it became a historical place too apart from a being a beautiful place. The guest house where Mahatma Gandhi stayed is now known as the Anashakti Ashram. Kausani is also famous as the birth place of Hindi poet laureate Sumitra Nandan Pant.
