KELAT

KELAT was the capital of the state of Kelat, now Baluchistan having capital at Quetta, which is a province of Pakistan. It is situated in a lofty region 140 m. S. of Kandahar, which became the residence of a British agent in 1877. It was annexed as a British possession in 1888.

It is a military stronghold, and of great importance in a military point of view.
