KING NIBELUNG

KING NIBELUNG, king of the mythical Burgundian tribe NIBELUNGEN, the fabulous possessor of a hoard of wealth who left his two sons an inexhaustible hoard of wealth, so large that 12 waggons in 12 days at the rate of 3 journeys a day could not carry it off.

He bequeathed the supposedly inexhaustible wealth to his two sons while he was on his deathbed, by the vanquishing of whom the hoard fell into the hands of the redoubtable hero Siegfried.
