Kondapalli Fort

Kondapalli Fort is in Kondapalli village situated at about 16 kilometres from Vijayawada town of the Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh in India. This fort was constructed in the 14th century.

The fort served several Muslim rulers. However, it was used as a trading centre and a base for military training during the colonial British rule.

The fort has three entrance gates. Dargha Darwaza is the main gate which is made of a single granite block. It is about 12 feet wide and 15 feet high. The gate derives its name from Gulab Shah's tomb.

Golconda Darwaza, which is fortified with battlements and towers, functions as a gateway to the neighbouring village of Jaggaiahpet.

There is an impressive three storied rock tower.

Kondapalli village is also famous for toys made with a special wood that's found on the hills of the area. These toys are famous the world over as 'Kondapalli Toys'.
