Kotgarh is in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand in India. The village lies in Jagannathpur block, and is historically important. Only a century ago, it was the seat of a very powerful Indian rulers whose sway spread over the areas of Jagannathpur, Manjhari, Manjhgaon and Chakradharpur. Narpat Singh, who built forts at Kotgarh, Jagannathpur and Jaintgarh, is said to have been the last king of the dynasty.
