Kyoto

Kyoto was the capital city of Japan from 784 to 1868. It is situated on the Kamo River, inland, 190 miles West of Yedo. The city is still the centre of Japanese Buddhism, and is noted for its pottery, bronze-work, crapes, and velvets.
