Lambeth

Lambeth is part of the South-West quarter of London. It is called London Borough of Lambeth since 1965, when the former metropolitan borough since 1900 and Wandsworth were joined to form it. It returns three MPs in the British Parliament.

Nevertheless, when Lambeth was a parliamentary borough in the historic County of Surrey, it returned four members. In 1889, Lambeth became part of the County of London. Following the London Government Act of 1899, It became a metropolitan borough in 1900.

It abounds in manufactories, contains St. Thomas's Hospital and Lambeth Palace, the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, with a magnificent library and important historic portrait-gallery.
