Lincoln

Lincoln is capital of Lincolnshire, on the Witham, 130 m. N. of London. Its stands on the Oolitic Ridge, and commands a wide view of the Trent Valley. It is a very old and quaint city, with one of the finest cathedrals in England, and many historic buildings. By the beginning of 20th century its annual spring horse-fair was among the largest in the world. It manufactured agricultural instruments, and traded in flour. Lincoln switched to war production between the two world wars (1914-1945) and the first ever tanks were invented, designed and built. City has much changed, and many industrial relics remain while many are in multipurpose use.
