Luigo Carlo Farini

Luigo Carlo Farini (1812-1866) was an Italian statesman and author, born at Russi. He practised as a doctor in his native town. In 1841 was forced, on account of his liberal sympathies, to withdraw from the Papal States, but returned in 1846 on the proclamation of the Papal amnesty, and afterwards held various offices of State. He was Premier for a few months in 1863. He was author of "Il Stato Romano," of which there is an English translation by Mr. Gladstone.
