Macherla

Macherla is a small town in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is famous for Sri Laxmi Chennakesava Swamy Temple.

This temple was built in 1113 AD as a Shaivite Temple. During the reign of Brahma Naidu, it was converted into a Vaishvanite Temple.

The main gate of the temple has one tall Dwajastambam (Flag Staff) Swamy statue which is covered with wood and bronze. Close by are four stone figures of Sri Madbhagavathamu, Srimannarayana Avataram, Sriman Mahabharatam, and Srimad Ramayanam.

Another temple dedicated to Veerabhadraswamy is located in the Old town. It was built in 18th century A.D.
