Madmaheshwar is in Uttarakhand state of India. It is one of the five kedars in the state, popularly known as Panch Kedar. It is situated at a height of 3289 metres above sea level in the foothills of Chaukhambha mountain. According to the legend, having disappeared from Kedarnath, Lord Shiv's navel reappeared at this place. Lord Shiv is worshipped here in the form of navel which is marked on the Shiv Ling. There is also a temple of Lord Shiv. This second Kedar is situated at the place of origin of the river Madmaheshwar. In the winter, only the Shiv ling is left at this site while other idols are taken to Ukhimath. The whole area is covered with snow during that period. There is also a Kali temple at Madmaheshwar. The idol is one metre is height and considered to be the best idol of Hairangouri in India. The nearby Saraswati Kund is also famous for its religious importance. Devotees come here to offer water (Tarpan) to their dead ancestors.
