Mahamaya Dham

Mahamaya Dham is a famous place of pilgrimage in Dhubri district of the state of Assam in India. It is located at Bogribari about 30-35 km east of Dhubri town.

It is regarded as the greatest Shaktipith of Western Assam, and third most important religious place in the state next to Kamakhya Than (Guwahati) and Madan-Mohan (Cooch Behar).

There is a temple of the Goddess Mahamaya on a beautiful hillock surrounded by thick jungles. Originaly the famous mother Goddess Mahamaya of Parvatjowar was worshipped by the local people like Kacharies, Koches and Nath etc, however, she is now worshiped by all Hindus. She was the presiding deity of the Jaminder of Parvatjowar.
