Mahavir Singh
Mahavir Singh was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India. He was born on 16th of September 1908, at Shahpur, Tahala-Etah, Uttar Pradesh. Kunwar Devi Singh was his father's name. He was a student D.A.V. College, Kanpur when he joined H.S.R.A. He drove the car by which Bhagat Singh and Shivaram Rajguru escaped after gunning down Assistant Superintendent of Police John Saunders on December 17, 1928, in Lahore now in Pakistan. He was arrested in the summer of 1929 and later sentenced to transportation to life. He was deported to the Andamans jail. He Participated in the first hunger strike and fell victim to the brutal force feeding process. He died on 17th May 1933.Nearby pages
