Mamit
Mamit is a district in the State of Mizoram in India. The district is bounded on the north by Hailakandi district of Assam state, on the west by North Tripura district of Tripura state and Bangladesh, on the south by Lunglei district and on the east by Kolasib and Aizawl districts.The district derives its name from Mamit town, which is also the administrative headquarters of the district.
Area of the district is 3025.75 sq km. The population of the district as per census 2001 is 62,313.
Sub-Divisions of the district are Mamit, Kawrthah, and W. Phaileng.
The district has 4 R.D. Blocks, Mamit, Reiek, West Phaileng and Zawlnuam.
History
Mamit district had earlier been a civil Sub-division of undivided Aizawl District. It has become a full-fledged district since 11 th March 1998.Politics
