Management

Management is the activity of managing something or the process of it or the body that does it. Effective leadership and management are essential to scaling up the quantity and quality of services and products.

Good leadership and management are about:

• providing direction to, and gaining commitment from, partners and staff;
• facilitating change; and
• achieving better services and products through efficient, creative and responsible deployment of people and other resources.

Strengthening leadership and management requires the fulfillment of four main conditions: adequate numbers of managers deployed, managers with appropriate competencies, functioning management support systems and a work environment that expects, supports and rewards good management performance.
