Manipur Vidhan Sabha Election 2022
Manipur Vidhan Sabha Election 2022 was announced on January 8, 2022 by the Election Commission of India. The term of the Manipur Vidhan Sabha was to expire on 19.03.2022. Elections were scheduled to be held for all the 60 seats, out of which 40 were general, one was reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), and 19 were reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST).As per electoral roll with reference to 1-1-2022, there were 20,56,901 electors in the state out of which 20,34,966 were general electors and 21,935 were service voters. A total of 14,651 electors were marked as Persons with Disabilities (PwD). There were maximum of 1250 electors instead of 1500 in a polling station. Accordingly there were 2,959 polling stations in 2022 as against 2,794 in 2017 which was an increase of 5.91%. Candidate's limit on expenses had been enhanced to Rs 28 lakhs.
