MANTRA

Mantra is the name originally given to hymns from the Veda, the repetition of which are supposed to have the effect of a charm.

Mantra, according to India tradition and scriptures, is also a mystic 'group of words' sacred to every deity, which if repeated with genuine faith and in accordance with certain prescribed rules help the realization of that deity or any other wish from the deity.

Every such Mantra has also got a Bija Mantra consisting of a single letter with 'm' added to it. This seed-letter, if prefixed to the Mantra itself, enhances its potency.
