Margaret of Anjou

Margaret of Anjou (1429-1482) was queen of Henry VI of England, and daughter of the good King René of Anjou. She was distinguished for the courage she displayed during the Wars of the Roses, though, after a struggle of nearly twenty years, she was defeated at Tewkesbury and committed to the Tower, from which, after four years of incarceration, she was afterwards released by ransom.
